Walked here in the forest
just my dog and I
oh what wonderful memories
brings tears to my eye
I don't have my dog now
she has gone away
to a much better place I know
where we two will meet some day
we had some good years just we two
but that just could not last
her lifespan was not longer
and ending much too fast
now here in the forest
I must walk alone
having only my memories
and be on my own
I have contemplated
getting dog again
but I am getting older now
so I think I must refrain
I know it would be lovely
to live those times once more
but it will have to wait now
we'll meet on the distant shore
I'll walk here alone now
wishing you were here
you know that I am missing you
you were oh so dear
I was very lucky
to meet one like you
we two were like a family
I'll always remember you
